Archive for 'Our annual family video'

Dec 30, 2016

Most of you already know I am a little obsessed with our yearly family photo albums and videos. They are one of my most favorite things to put together, and I post the videos in here so they can be easily found (mostly by our girls!). Sophia loves to pull up the old ones and watch them over and over (all of them can be found HERE once you scroll down).

That said, I do these for my family, and I don't really expect everyone to sit and watch this. I post enough pictures all year, that you could very well be sick of seeing these faces already! Ha. But, whether you watch it or not, I hope that this can inspire you all to do the same. Take the pictures. Print them! Put them in albums for your kids. Do SOMETHING with them. Don't let them live on social media. I know I say this a lot, but it is so important to me to be able to give our kids a way to go back and relive the memories, and these videos and the albums are my gift to my family.

It is so crazy to watch a year's worth of photos. ONE year. We made all these memories in just one year. It flew by, as the years seem to do. I am glad we have these to go back and watch, because you don't realize just how fleeting a moment is until it is gone.

The big ones for us this year:

Jack was born, much earlier than expected! The day the girls got to see him for the first time was definitely one of the high points of the year.

Paul graduated from UC Davis!

We vacationed to Colorado and Utah. Our family reunion in Utah was a vacation we will never forget.

The Cubs won the World Series! Make sure to watch the video to the end to see that one. A moment we waited for as long as I can remember!

Happy New Year, and may 2017 be filled with joy & laughter.

xoxo

*disclaimer. A lot of these are iPhone pics, like every year.

Another year has passed, and it is time for our annual family video (years past can be found here).

It was a big year, and there are a lot of pictures this year. You have been warned. Especially the last half of the year- baby Annabelle might just be the happiest baby I have ever had in front of my camera. What a perfect addition she is to our wild & crazy family! We all just adore her.

I love looking back on all our memories, but even more so I look forward to the ones we will make this year. Thank you for being a part of our life, supporting my little business year after year- you really have no idea how much you all mean to me.

I wish you all a fantastic New Year full of love & laughter.

xoxo Amy

(All photos are mine except the very last picture. The beautiful family portrait is by Meg Bitton. Thank you Meg!)

Our yearly family video is one of my favorite projects to work on. I love being able to go back and see the progression throughout the year. The milestones met, the memories made.

This year was full. Busting at the seams, really! Weddings, births, vacations...so many little moments that together made up one fabulous year. I always question the amount of pictures I include, knowing full well that I already bog down Facebook and Instagram with my constant sharing, but the truth is I don't do this for you. As much as I love that my clients are such a HUGE part of my life - SO many of you are my friends, so much more than "clients"- I do this for my family. For our kids. They watch the videos over and over. They know how to find them on my website (and if this is the first one you are watching and are interested in seeing more, here is a link to the past 3 years). They have the songs memorized and know what picture will come next...and still laugh. They understand the importance of taking a picture. They "get" why mommy does what she does, why the big camera is with me a lot (and even more so my iPhone now- so many of these were just quick phone pictures). Their favorite gift at Christmas is their yearly photo album I make them. They call it their family yearbook. I love that. I love that they will have these to show their own kids. I love that on a bad day I can watch this video and cheer up in an instant. So if you choose not to sit through the next 10 minutes and 15 seconds I totally understand and won't get my feelings hurt. I DO hope that it inspires you to take more pictures. Capture these moments. SHARE them with your kids.

THANK YOU for being an important part of our life. Whether you are family, a close friend or someone that I have connected with through social media, your constant cheering on, supporting my business, caring for our family- it means so much. I truly wish you all an amazing New Year.

xoxo

I know I take a lot of pictures, but it still always amazes me to see just how many little moments make up a year. Our family had a lot of big milestones this year. A new baby nephew, Tim & Brit engaged, Madison starting kindergarten, the first of the girls to have to get stitches,  and LOTS of lost teeth.

So here it is.

All the big moments and plenty of the little ones in between.

2012 was full of changes. We welcomed the sweetest baby in the world into our family, not knowing just what a huge void she would fill, one we didn't even realize was there, yet she fit so perfectly in it. It's hard to remember what life was like before her! We moved to a new neighborhood, gaining some much needed space and amazing neighbors (although we certainly miss our old ones- and I will be stopping by with those cookies soon, Laura!!).

Sophia started kindergarten, Madison started her last year of preschool and Nick & Paul went off to college. It was a big year here.

The last few months have been rough for our family, as you know. We have never felt the pain that we are going through right now, and as I put this video together tonight I almost felt guilty as I watched the happy faces and laughter, because our family is experiencing such tremendous grief right now, and it just doesn't seem fair to celebrate the good times. But it  helps to see the smiles, it reminds us that there is still a lot of life around us, a lot we have to be thankful for. The pain won't go away, but, thankfully, neither will the memories we made. And this family is really fantastic at making memories. Just watch the video and see for yourself.

A huge thank you to my friend Jade for the amazing pictures of Hannah's birth. I cherish them.

just for fun...here is last years video.

I can't let the year pass without putting up a slideshow of my favorite family pictures, too. I take a lot of pictures. I know that. And sometimes I complain about bringing my camera out everywhere, about constantly feeling the pressure to be the sole photographer in the family at every birthday, holiday, event. But really, this is how I am growing as a photographer, when I learn something new and practice on my own girls, who seriously love to model for me (thank goodness). Posting a picture here on there on facebook is fun, but being able to go back and look at all the little moments that made up our year and knowing that my girls will have these memories forever?  That is the most rewarding feeling. It was also an added bonus to play this for the girls this morning and see their eyes get big remembering. Sophia always tells me I "get over excited", and I probably did with this little video, but I love it.

Take lots of pictures this year. I know I will.
